Try & hire!
Learn what works before investing
I offer sling hire options at various price points, with carriers suitable for a wide range of body shapes and sizes. While I stock well-known brands, I also champion smaller, consultant-led sling makers who prioritise ethical production and thoughtful design. Their baby carriers have well-considered features to better fit, and support confident, long-term babywearing.

quick faqs
Which areas do you cover? I support families in Hastings, St Leonards, Bexhill, Battle, Towards Rye, Hailsham, Eastbourne (within 45 mins drive radius) across East Sussex with consultations and sling hire.
Do you sell slings... In short - depends on the brand, (I dropship Lenny Lamb, and have an affiliate code for Izmi) and occasionally I'll do a library clear out. Generally speaking I can point you to retailers / best place to buy, and will often have discount codes too - or can ask among my consultant network to see if anyone is moving something along if you're after a particular carrier preloved. My hiring period (standard one week) tends to have enough overlap for you to purchase your own, and extending hire is quite affordable too! What does a consultation include? I'm really easy-going and flexible – but essentially we'll be able to go at yours and baby's pace, and I can support you with your current sling(s) or something entirely different such as learning a new skill, or we can work together to find a carrier that's the right fit for you and your family. I offer different session types to suit a range of budgets - hit the services button for more info!
Do you offer online consultations? I do find that in-person-support where possible easiest. But if I'm a distance and I feel I can support you over camera then I'd be very happy to do an online session.

Hi, i'm your local
'sling lady'
I'm Emma and I'm here to support you with all your babywearing needs
I’m Emma, a qualified babywearing consultant in Hastings, helping families across East Sussex discover the joy of carrying their little ones safely and comfortably. Whether you’d like to hire a sling, try before you buy baby carriers, or book a 1-to-1 consultation, I’ll help you find the perfect fit for your family.
I offer consultations and sling hire from my home (most budget) and will also travel to surrounding towns in East Sussex for home visits. (Fairlight, Icklesham, Winchelsea, Rye, St Leonards-on-sea, Bexhill, Battle, Eastbourne and even Polegate). From quick fit checks to full troubleshooting to learning new skills such as safe back-carrying, my appointment types can be tailored to suit too.

Trying before buying is something I'd always recommend, as individual preferences due to a range of factors can really vary. (Although there are some carriers I'd avoid) The best sling will be one that fits well, keeps your baby safe, you're both comfy in, and you can use it by yourself with ease. My sling library in Hastings includes wraps, ring slings, half buckles, buckle carriers and more (and while I do have some big-brands I tend to favour consultant-engaged brands, that are likely less on your radar). Carriers are available to borrow for up to 4 weeks. Since becoming a Mum and then Consultant I've tried a wide range of carriers and understand what works for different body types, so if you're not loving something can suggest different slings that will tick other requirements yours is missing.

A few years ago, I too was a new parent, and very new to babywearing. I must have bought about 5 slings, with a preference for a pre-tied stretchy before someone suggested trying wovens, when Edie was on the bigger side for it, and I soon realised their was no local help with learning such a skill well. I actually hired a wrap from Inverness! After loving what I learnt, and discovering what a key part wrapping had in my parenting journey. I wanted to help others. So I later decided to train with Slingababy and Carrying Matters (and continually involve myself with CPD sessions) to offer parents support in a safe way — and ensure my knowledge is kept up to date.
I started with pop-ups to build word-of-mouth trust - and will forever be thankful to the local businesses who helped me on my way Tots Play Bexhill, Breastmates. Glow Baby, Spun Glass Theatre, Wise Mamas, Expectant Escapes, Moat Breastfeeding Support, Latched on Eastbourne.
Since my first consult parent walked through the door and the dopamine hit I got from helping her, I’ve been doing just that ever since and not looked back!
